How to Calculate Vinegar Dilution
To calculate vinegar dilution, find amount of concentrated vinegar needed by multiplying the final volume by the ratio of target to initial concentration. The remaining volume will be water.
Ensure accurate measurements and consider the vinegar’s starting acidity level.
- Inputs: Starting vinegar = 20%, Target = 4%, Final = 500mL
- Calculations: (4/20) × 500 = 100mL vinegar, 500 – 100 = 400mL water
- Result: Mix 100mL vinegar with 400mL water
Vinegar Dilution Formula
Vinegar Amount = (Target % ÷ Initial %) × Final Volume
Water Amount = Final Volume - Vinegar Amount
Where:
Target % = Desired vinegar concentration
Initial % = Starting vinegar concentration
Final Volume = Total solution volume needed
Cleaning Solution
- Inputs: Initial = 25%, Target = 5%, Volume = 2000mL
- Calculations: (5/25) × 2000 = 400mL vinegar, 2000 – 400 = 1600mL water
- Result: Mix 400mL vinegar with 1600mL water
Pickling Brine
- Inputs: Initial = 30%, Target = 6%, Volume = 1500mL
- Calculations: (6/30) × 1500 = 300mL vinegar, 1500 – 300 = 1200mL water
- Result: Mix 300mL vinegar with 1200mL water
Plant Spray
- Inputs: Initial = 15%, Target = 3%, Volume = 750mL
- Calculations: (3/15) × 750 = 150mL vinegar, 750 – 150 = 600mL water
- Result: Mix 150mL vinegar with 600mL water
Food Recipe
- Inputs: Initial = 10%, Target = 2%, Volume = 250mL
- Calculations: (2/10) × 250 = 50mL vinegar, 250 – 50 = 200mL water
- Result: Mix 50mL vinegar with 200mL water
Cleaning Product
- Inputs: Initial = 40%, Target = 8%, Volume = 500mL
- Calculations: (8/40) × 500 = 100mL vinegar, 500 – 100 = 400mL water
- Result: Mix 100mL vinegar with 400mL water
What is Vinegar Dilution Ratio?
Vinegar Dilution: The process of reducing vinegar’s acid concentration by adding water. The ratio describes the proportion of vinegar to water needed to achieve a specific acidity level.
Dilution Ratio = Starting Concentration ÷ Target Concentration
