Dilution Ratio Calculation Formula
The formula for dilution calculations is:
C₁V₁ = C₂V₂
Where:
- C₁ = Initial concentration
- V₁ = Initial volume
- C₂ = Final concentration
- V₂ = Final volume
You have a 20% concentrated solution and need to prepare 500ml of a 4% solution.
Using the formula:
- 20% × V₁ = 4% × 500ml
- V₁ = (4% × 500ml) ÷ 20%
- V₁ = 100ml of concentrate
You would use 100ml of the 20% solution and add 400ml of water to achieve the desired 4% concentration in a total volume of 500ml.
