Percent (%) to Grams Conversion Calculator

Percent to Grams Calculator

Enter total solution weight in grams and desired percentage concentration in percent to grams converter. The calculator will determine amount in grams needed to achieve that percentage concentration. Select the measurement type (weight/volume) for proper calculation.

  • Inputs: Total weight = 100 grams, Desired percentage = 15%
  • Process: Enter values and select weight/volume
  • Result: 15 grams needed for 15% concentration

How to Convert Percent to Grams

To convert from percentage to grams, multiply total solution weight by percentage expressed as a decimal Grams = Total Weight × (Percentage ÷ 100). For a weight/volume solution, use the solution’s density to adjust the calculation. Remember that percentages can be expressed as weight/weight (w/w) or weight/volume (w/v).

  • Inputs: Solution = 500 grams, Concentration = 5%
  • Calculations: 500 × (5 ÷ 100) = 25
  • Result: 25 grams needed for 5% solution

Percent to Grams Formula

Grams = Total Weight × (Percentage ÷ 100)

For w/v solutions:
Grams = Volume × Density × (Percentage ÷ 100)

Where:

Total Weight = Solution weight in grams
Percentage = Desired concentration percentage
Volume = Solution volume in milliliters

Salt Solution

  • Inputs: Total weight = 200g, Percentage = 10%, Type = w/w
  • Calculations: 200 × (10 ÷ 100)
  • Result: 20 grams of salt needed

Sugar Mixture

  • Inputs: Total weight = 1000g, Percentage = 25%, Type = w/w
  • Calculations: 1000 × (25 ÷ 100)
  • Result: 250 grams of sugar needed

Chemical Solution

  • Inputs: Total weight = 150g, Percentage = 8%, Type = w/w
  • Calculations: 150 × (8 ÷ 100)
  • Result: 12 grams of chemical needed

Medical Solution

  • Inputs: Total weight = 400g, Percentage = 12%, Type = w/w
  • Calculations: 400 × (12 ÷ 100)
  • Result: 48 grams of solute needed

Laboratory Sample

  • Inputs: Total weight = 50g, Percentage = 20%, Type = w/w
  • Calculations: 50 × (20 ÷ 100)
  • Result: 10 grams of sample needed

What is Percentage and Grams?

Percentage (%): A dimensionless ratio expressing a number as a fraction of 100, used to describe concentration or proportion in solutions.

Percentage = (Part ÷ Whole) × 100

Grams (g): The standard unit of mass in the metric system, equal to one-thousandth of a kilogram.

1 gram = 1000 milligrams = 0.001 kilograms
